Overview
To provide full project support, transport and craneage to a large energy customer to support a sensitive and challenging public sector project
The challenge
Movement of large and awkward pieces of machinery and ancillary equipment from manufacture to 20 different brownfield and greenfield sites throughout the UK. Project planning from inception, cargo movement consultancy, site visits, risk assessment and route planning. Project timelines remained fluid throughout requiring rapid reaction and deployment of resources at short notice.
Our solution
Initial scoping through one of our experienced project managers. Engagement with all stakeholders and Central control tower via our Special projects division. Project planning tool prepared including full specification of equipment required per site, timeline plan and commercial detail which was updated according to scope movements.
The project was managed through daily communication, weekly conference calls and monthly business reviews with the client.
Outcome
A High profile project which was delivered with a high degree of professionalism. Attention to detail was key due to the changing nature of the scope and timelines coupled with the multi-layered solution where Swain managed additional supplioers in craneage and European Transport as the 3PL control tower
