Record Charity Haul at Swains Retirement Dinner Dance
This year’s annual dinner dance on Saturday 24th March has raised a record £4110 for Kent Air Ambulance. The charity is supported every year at this event with the Company matching the proceeds of the raffle on the evening. The special event this year to celebrate company Chairman Bob Swain’s retirement after 43 years’ service was held at Priestfield Stadium Banqueting Suite in Gillingham. With over 300 past and present staff and customers as well as family and friends attending. The event also coincided with the 100 year anniversary of Great Grandfather Harry Swain delivering fruit to London in his horse and cart during WW1. The event, which was a surprise for Bob, featured the company’s show vehicle, a 1990 Leyland Road Train in Swains Green, to welcome guests outside along with the Sedan Chair, enjoyed by many of the Swains children, being used in the Photo Booth for some great party photos to show future generations of the Swain Family.
