For the last 12 months, Swains dedicated subcontract division: MHL has been managing Express van deliveries for a UK client distributing bespoke fixtures across Europe with 90% of deliveries required next-day with lead time of less than 12 hours.
MHL’s International transport team identified the sensitive and critical part of the supply-chain was communication due to the multitude of people relying on goods to arrive for delivery exactly as ordered. With support of strong existing relationships with Express Van partners across Europe, our planners were able to meet the customers exacting demands on this project.
With vast experience in project management, the team identified that in order to make the project a success, the requirement to go ‘above and beyond’ with communication via hourly updates to support customer and their challenging client base had to be the standard.
A recent spot request led to 12 vans collecting within 24 hours of booking as production was coming off the line to deliver next-day to a waiting production facility in Germany. Doubts were expressed by our clients customer as to the ability to execute. MHL ensured that all parties were briefed on plans and then kept updated on status via email, text and calls to all stakeholders. The result? All deliveries made ahead of schedule and on-budget.
