Features that ensure our staff are fully trained and therefore skilled in their roles include:

  • A dedicated full time Training Officer for our drivers, workshop and warehouse staff. All new drivers have a minimum of a 2 day Induction. This course is registered for Driver CPC  purposes . For less experienced drivers this will be extended for as long as necessary
  • A comprehensive management training programme for our supervisors and junior managers
  • Senior manager training to Director level
  • Our Strood site has a dedicated training room purpose built to deliver excellent quality training
  • All the required vocational training to include as appropriate ADR (Hazardous Goods) , Hiab and Moffett, general Fork Truck , CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) and CPCS ( Construction Plant Certification Scheme),  Crossrail, Freight Operator Recognition (FORS) Safe Urban Driving , Crane Appointed persons, Driver CPC, Transport Managers CPC
  • Apprenticeship schemes in LGV driving, LGV fitting and warehouse operations. It is a strategic goal for the whole industry as well as s the Swain Group to try and involve more young people in a career in road haulage. Particularly for drivers the Swain Group has developed innovative solutions to overcome obstacles such as motor insurance age barriers
  • Our FORS ( Freight Operator Recognition Scheme ) Gold registration and involvement with Crossrail has led to drivers completing bespoke safety courses with a particular focus on Vulnerable Road Users such as cyclists
